We found our van on craigslist about 2 hours from home. Before purchasing, we took the van for a test drive and stopped at a local mechanic shop to have it checked over. While the shop didn’t see any glaring issues with the van, they simply advised against buying a 12 year old vehicle to drive across the country. Obviously we didn’t take their advice, but we did use it as a bargaining tool with the seller.
